Fifth Day, Week 3
Friday,13 July 2012

For the fifth day,I continue to progress to get the best circuits using PROTUES. For your information, actual circuit can be designed according to our own creativity, where the results of the paths between the components can be connected properly. As an example, if we do not arrange the components to order, it would complicate the process of Eching, then, it  would complicate the process of soldering and so on.

This is the first experiment I did using PROTUES. But it is not the best results. For this circuit, several components are in SMD (surface mount device). Okay, let's talk about the SMD.

An electronic device so made is called a surface-mount device (SMD). In the industry it has largely replaced the through-hole technology construction method of fitting components with wire leads into holes in the circuit board. This technologies can be used on the same board for components not suited to surface mounting such as transformers and heat-sinked power semiconductors.

The main advantages of SMT (surface mount technology) over the older through-hole technique are:
 - Smaller components.

 - Much higher component density (components per unit area) and many more connections   per component.

 - Fewer holes need to be drilled.

 - Simpler and faster automated assembly.

 - Components can be placed on both sides of the circuit board.

 - Lower resistance and inductance at the connection, consequently fewer unwanted RF

 - signal effects and better and more predictable high-frequency performance.

 - Better mechanical performance under shake and vibration conditions.

-Many SMT parts cost less than equivalent through-hole parts.

-Better EMC compatibility (lower radiated emissions) due to the smaller radiation loop area (because of the smaller package) and the smaller lead inductance.

Fourth Day, Week 3
Thursday,12 July 2012

PROTUES'S  mission continues today. After review and understand PROTUES, I and two other partners will work to design circuit using PROTUES.Mr. Mazran ask us for design two circuit using PROTUES. We need one circuit for the circuit of their own with our own creativity. Actually, the fact that i'm really not have  skilled PROTUES for our use but we will try to get the best results.

Bill of material for the first circuit is as shown below :

  1. Voltage regulator 7806
  2. Capacitors ( 47uF, 0.1uF )
  3. Resistors ( 1M ohm, 470 ohm, 10k ohm, 1k ohm, 68 ohm, 47k ohm )
  4. Timer 555
  5. Diode zener
  6. LED
  7. DIN4001
  8. CS9013
  9. IRF9540
  10. DIN5822
  11. CS9012

Third day, week 3
Wednesday,11 july 2012

Like the day before, I and friends have been able to get PIC board and found all components are functioning properly. Next, I and two other partners have been asked to understand and know protues. before, I actually never used Proteus, but less skilled.

  • PROTUES used to design circuit and PCB making.
  • PROTUES usually used software for circuit design & PCB fabrication.
  • ISIS & ARES for beginners.
Usually, the most commonly used software is ISIS.

ISIS : basic schematic entry
  • Find desired components in the libraries.
  • Placing component into schematic.
  • Placing & manipulating orientation of the components onto the schematics.
  • Wiring up component.
After completion circuit design, the design will transferring schematic to ARES.The simulating PIC process using by ISIS. Generally, in designing circuit & PCB making will involves these steps :
  1. Draw the schematic
  2. Run an electrical rule check to ensure no error.
  3. Import the schematic data into a PCB program.
  4. Layout the PCB.
  5. Run the design rule check on the PCB.
  6. Print to a printer.

Assalamualaikum & Salam 1 Malaysia..
Tuesday, 10 july 2012 (second day,week 3)

Around 9.00 am, my senses are at work. as usual I will continue to complete tasks assigned and connect back up the components in the circuit. for a completed assembling the components, PIC  board will be tested to ensure that each component can work properly.

This is a pic board that was installed components ..

On the page before, I do not give a clear picture of some of the equipment needed. so here I show the equipment needed  during the process of assembling the components in the pic board.

components to be installed on board

In the afternoon, mr. Mazran give assignments to make sure that I and  several friends who understand AT command. Further activities will be resumed tomorrow.
